After a fab evening watching Lagniappe Brass Band (check 'em out on YouTube) headed home kinda early. Sad to check out this morning as New Orleans seems to have so much more to see, but happy to be going to Houston. Headed for the train and rolled SLOWLY out of the city about noon.

Another great day in New Orleans - 4th of July! Headed out to town and grabbed a bit of lunch. Red beans and rice (yum) and grits (yuck). Then wandered down Decatur St and Jackson Square. Followed the sound of jazz to an amazing place called Mojitos where we whiled away a fab afternoon drinking Cajun iced tea and listening to the Soulaboogie Swamp Band on the patio. Then dropped into a tattoo parlour (yes those cocktails had kicked in) but came out ink-free. ...

Left Alabama early and headed west to New Orleans. Arrived in good time, dropped of car and headed for a snoop about the French Quarter. Found ourselves on the craziness that is Bourbon St. and grabbed a couple of beers while listening to an awesome soul band. Stopped for one in Lafitte's Blacksmiths (oldest house in Nawlins). Strolled out to Garden District to check into our lovely hotel, the Prytania Park. Later went to fabulous Slice Pizzeria for a serious...
