Early start to get to Graceland. Took in the mansion (not nearly as tacky as I expected), elvis's airplanes, his cars and stood at the end of Lonely Street - Heartbreak Hotel! Back downtown to see Sun Studio. Resting up before more live music (country night!) down on Beale St.

Just about to leave Memphis and drive south on Highway 61 to the Mississippi Delta for some blues and barbecue. Good night last night. Took a trolley ride and wandered to the river for a brief paddle. Then wandered down to Beale street for a swift half or two. Early-ish night.

Busy day! Yesterday checked out of hotel in Chicago and headed downtown to Grant Park to enjoy Taste of Chicago festival. Then to Union station (big staircase from The Untouchables) to get the night train to Memphis. Arrived at dawn in Memphis and grabbed a breakfast at Denny's. Checked in early to hotel and set off to explore city. Saw site of MLK assassination. Then strolled by the Mississippi river. Then M toured Gibson Guitar factory while I visited A. ...
