Well who knew we would end up in Iowa? Left St Louis originally heading for middle Illinois. But Mark had other ideas. Having looked at the map he fancied adding another state to the agenda. So Iowa it was then. Weather much cooler (around 93) so fewer stops were needed. Rolled into Davenport mid afternoon. It's an odd place as it's part of what's known as the Quad Cities, 4 cities all joined together across the Mississippi River (2 in Iowa, 2 in Illinois). After finding a Days Inn and haggling the price down to the senior rate we checked in and enjoyed their hot tub for a while. Later on took the bike out to explore downtown Davenport: big mistake. This town has a one-way system the likes if which I have never seen. We ended up driving through all four of the cities. Not fun driving for Mark at all. When we finally found central Davenport and parked up, not much was happening at all. Cut our losses and headed back to hotel. Wandered out to Red Lobster where we had a delicious meal with fabulous service. Good work Ronda.
