We decided to have a beach day today as we haven't had chance to chill at the beach for ages. We often stopped to see them and spent a short while there, but not a proper beach day! We caught the tram to St Kilda which is the nearest and nicest beach to us. It wasn't huge but we found a spot and sun 'baked' as the Aussies call it! It was pretty hot so we didn't last long so went for lunch in a café to cool down! We decided to abandon the beach as it was quite windy and we kept getting covered in sand! Instead we headed into town and mooched along Fitzroy street in the shops! We had the necessary ice cream and then caught the tram to Albert Park.
We walked around the park and found the F1 track which was cool! We found the main building, the podium bit and where the pits are! We could also see the finish line and starting grids on the road, but they have been partly taken up as it is a quiet road at the mo! Looking forward to watching the race on tv now to spot these bits! We loved walking by the lake as we had a lovely view of the city and it was very picture perfect!
From there we headed back to the hostel. We got ready and headed out for some dinner as a treat! It was only Nandos again but it was yum! We stopped in a small cafe where they had a huge range of cakes and deserts! We settled, quite easily, on the Tim Tam cheesecake which was gorgeous!!
We then spent the evening wandering around by the river front. It was very busy and lots going on. There were many street performers, including some cool circus dogs which were quite funny and very cute!! We watched a band for a while and a poor woman doing some awful fire tricks!
We spent much of the evening just wandering around taking it all in!
