No worries mates if I am not writing for one day, it doesn't mean that something is wrong here. I just came in an unexpected situation and I didn't have the energy to write when I came back home late in the evening. Let me explain, as this was my one day surf trip :))
Early in the orning I took off already because the pick up point was at another hostel, at 9.15 in the morning. I had a chat with some girls from Ireland and soon our surf instructor came with a four wheel drive and a lot of surfboards behind his car. We went to a place to have breakfast and to use the toilets, because our lessons would be at a private beach, and there you don't have acces to a toilet or access to a restaurant. I chatted a bit with the girl next to me, who was from Costa Rica. Always nice to meet new people.
On the beach, we got to know the others, as we were with two cars. Thse driver of the other car, was the one to explain us the first things about surfing. He was exactly what I think a surf instructor should be like, he was tall, he had a spontaneous character, a nice smile and not to mention his six-pack. I did listen to his words, but since I start to like the accent a lot it made me dream away a bit hehe. ))
After the first part of the lesson we were allowed to try for ourselfs and see if we could ride those waves. And it seems so simple when you practice on the sand, you lay on your board, you paddle till the wave is under you, you get up and stand low on your board. Uhu right, practicing on the sand is one thing, but when you have to keep your balance, it's different. And try to slip on your board and keep the balance. I never thought it would be this hard, but it was a lot of fun trying. Before we were called for lunch, I think I had only two waves, but hey, it was my first surflesson ever, so who knows how things would go after lunch!
Lunch was a bbq on the beach they said, but we didn't grill our own meat. There were sausages and baked onions and a nice salad and bread, so we had a good meal after all. There was some time to relax in the sun and since my back was red from my morning at the beach, the friendly blond surf dude offered some sunscreen, and who am I to say no? :P LOL
So after lunch, we had another short instruction of surfing an we went into the water again, trying to keep managing those boards in the waves. I think I had two more waves when I actually got up the board, but we didn't take pictures during the surfing so I can't give you evidence that I was on that board... I did shoot some shots during lunch and before and after so hopefully they are nice. ARound 3 pm we left the water, and our surf day was over. We put the boards on the trailer again, the wetsuites in the car and off we went. This is how it should be in my imagination. A group of young ppl together in the car, the music loud, the windows open, wind through your hair and laughter fills the air. Yes, it was such a nice day, had so much fun and didn't think of anything else but the surfing. Awesome, every moment of it!
Me and Loriana, the girl from Costa Rica, both felt like having a beer, or more than one beer. After all it was saturday and we are on vacation. We would meet our surf instructor later (not the cute one that I liked though :( ) but we started already with some beers. Somehow we can talk for ages, and we knew eachother only some hours. But it feels good, making new friends. Around 7 we were picked up by Brandon, as he was called, and we went to some other places. 'to meet some locals' he said. Unfortunately it was a bit disappointing and we had only a few beers more till we decided to take the bus back to our places. We are not that far from eachother so that was good, we could walk most of the way home together.
Surfing is awesome and I now want to plan another day of surfing. Not sure how to plan it within all my other things but there should be a way. I hope to do it more often, it feels so great when you have a good wave and it's like you are flying through the air. I loved it, very very much. :))
Blog about today follows soon, first see if I can ge some pics online ;)
