Sawadee
Today we got another step closer to our PADI Open Water qualification. We spent the morning worrying about the dives then the time came to check our equipment and board the boat for the dive site.
It was just a short ride on the boat to Twins dive site. Here we had 2 dives to 12 metres and had to perform several skills while under the water. On the first dive it was more relaxed and a fin pivot and weights to remove and put back on and also remove regulator (the thing that lets you breathe under water!!) and replace it.
We saw lots of fish including a triggerfish which are quite large and have a spike on their head and they can charge you if you get into their territory luckily this one was in a good mood.
After getting back on the boat we dumped our gear then had to swim around the boat twice (it felt like we swam around the QE2) then tread water for 10 minutes.
The second dive was again to 12 metres and we saw lots more fish including a butterfly fish and angel fish plus lots of Seargant majors. There were also lots more skills to do including an emergency ascent with 1 breath of air then an assisted ascent using your buddies 2nd air supply. On top of this we had to discard our air supply then find it again and reinsert it so we could breathe again plus flood our masks with water and empty them!!!!!
It was a pretty hectic second dive, they put you through your paces!!!
After the dive we were on our way back to shore and saw 2 pilot whales which was amazing. Our instructor told us he had only seen 3 in the 6 years that he had been on Koh Tao so quite a rare sighting.
Tomorrow is the last day of the course and there is no rest for us it will be Sunday morning and we have a 7am start and should be diving by 8am.There will be a guy filming us and putting it on DVD which we can buy afterwards but we are not sure yet as it's 40 quid!!!!
Will report back tomorrow after our two 18 metre dives (that is as far as we are allowed to go and it is deep enough!!!!)
It is another early night for us, see you tomorrow.
Lots of Love
M & M
