Sawadee
I know that I said there would be no blog today but it seems that you can get an internet connection anywhere these days and the Thai people don't miss a trick.
Today has been the first day that both of us felt like coming home, we have just had an horrendous journey up to Chiang Khong (the border town where will enter Laos tomorrow)
There were 10 of us crammed into a minivan and the air con didn't work, our luggage was chucked on the roof and we didn't know if we would see it at the other end!!!!
At one stage the boot of the van opened and some ruckscaks nearly went flying down the superhighway here. We drew the short straw and ended up in the back seats. The roads up here are pretty horrendous and some of the potholes feel like you are driving into the bloody Grand Canyon!!!!!
Luckily it only took 6 hours at one point I was trying to eat in the back and I said to Mel that I feel like the kid on Jim'll Fix It who rode the rollercoaster trying to eat and food was going everywhere!!!!!
On a lighter note we are showered and fed and feel a lot better than an hour ago, all our visa forms are filled in and we get the slow boat tomorrow at 9am after clearing immigration. We have the full day on the boat then stay at a local village then finish off the trip the day after arriving in Laos around mid afternoon.
See you in Laos
Lots of Love
