Hi Guys
We have had a mixed bag today, we decided to take the scenic route from Invercargill to Dunedin and stop off at several sights along the way. We set off with the sun shining and headed north for the first time in 9 days. It became apparent that most of the sights to see were off the main road down gravel tracks which are no good for the hire car (stone chips and windscreen damage= lots of dollars!!!)
The one thing we did go and see was Purakaunui Falls these are a 3 tier waterfall and really beautiful although these too were down a 4km gravel road, but we had to see something today!!!
We rolled into Dunedin around 3.30pm and found the YHA that we were staying at then headed straight into town for a look around. The main place to go is the Octagon where there are bars and shops and a statue of Robert Burns (today complete with whisky bottle that someone had left there!!) We had a look at the railway station and St Pauls Cathedral as well both are really impressive buildings.Headed back to the hostel for Jambalaya and beer. Tomorrow is a day trip to the Otago Peninsula weather permitting to see albatross, penguins and sea lions, fingers crossed.
