Thursday started with another deli breakfast, this time from a place called applejacks, again pictures of well know people all over the walls. We did start to wonder if these people actually visit these places or if the pictures were just there for fun. The weather had cleared up enough for us to decide to head to the intrepid air and space museum, we walked via the theatre district and found ourselves there in about twenty minutes.
The intrepid is a big aircraft carrier and there is also one of the BA concords, a space shuttle and a submarine (with an amusing name, Growler) there, we spent about three hours or so touring the various things and taking loads of photos. You can't get on the Concorde unless you pay an extra 20 bucks so we skipped that as we have been on a couple already and didn't want to wear out the carpet.
The sun had now come out and as Andrew’s head was already burnt we needed to head back to the hotel quickly for a costume change before heading to lunch, we headed to 23rd street in Flatiron district area and a place called hill country BBQ market, which we knew about before getting to NYC. It was a BBQ meat place where you order what meats you want from one counter, then off to another to get side etc. We had Jalapeño cheese sausage, brisket, pork rib and beef shoulder with sides of beans and burnt ends and pinto beans with something or another in it. Everything was amazing and we washed it down with various cocktails with chillis in them!
It was soon time to head back to the hotel and a quick beer in the lounge before heading out to the Yankee’s baseball. The Yankee stadium is in the Bronx so we got there using our friend the subway. After picking up our tickets and buying some memorabilia we took our seats, we’d managed to score the tickets for about £12 and had a great view. We enjoyed the game, food and atmosphere before catching the subway back and had a final nightcap.
