I never really watched Dallas the TV show but Karen did so off to Southfork Ranch we go. It is only about a 20 minute drive out of Dallas. On the freeway out I saw one of the best examples of US overpasses I have seen to date, roads and flyovers going in all directions. The photos attached do not do it justice. Even though I didn't watch the show, the tour was interesting. Apparently only the outdoor scenes were filmed at this site. Funny now looking back at the 70s opulent decor. Tour finished we headed to the second Premium Outlets in the wider Dallas area, this time Allens Premium Outlets. These seem much bigger and better than the ones yesterday. I scored a pair of Oakley Carbon Blade sunglasses (retail in Aus for $549) for $129 US. Also picked up some asics for $45. Shopping finished we hit the I75 freeway direct into the city, for some reason massive traffic jam all the way (15k) to the city. Took us 2.5 hours Grrrrrhh. Had a few beers and a lovely Mexican for dinner, early night for the drive to Houston and Galveston tomorrow. My views on Dallas. If it wasn't for Dealy Plaza there would be nothing for me here. I don't think there was a huge choice of bars or restaurants. The steakhouses in the city are overpriced, over $50 US for a steak. To add insult there is a state republican convention and everyone is walking around with Trump button and badges. Glad to be heading south. On a side note Karen and I thought we would try some new travelling items to make our packing easier: 1. Luggage cubes, various size packing cubes for inside the suitcase, etc one for shorts, one for jocks/socks. Allows you to keep your clothing sorted (see photo). They are fantastic 2. Cable/small items bag. Great for charging cables and small items 3. Shoe bags. Allows you to put shoes into suitcase without dirtying other items. All of these items from eBay and very cheap. Happy with all items
