So last night we went to Old Town San Diego, which was just how I expected Mexico to be. Had a Mexican 'feast', raided the supermarket for peanut butter chocs before hitting the sack.
Jet leg is slowly easing... today it was a 4.30am wake up which was a big improvement on the previous day. Ah well. This morning we to Sea World... rode the rapids three times, straight off - got so so drenched. Then got a finger hug from a star (I want to say fish but it wasn't), tickled a sea urchin, watched a sea lion Halloween special, seen the Dolphins, rode a horrendous log flume come roller coaster (and screamed Louise style), seen Shamu, the killer whale and his pals... and highlight of my day... saw a walrus and a beluga whale (who I'm sure was smiling at me).
As if that wasn't tiring enough... Six of us then went for a surf lesson on a lovely beach, reminded me quite a lot of Fistral in Cornwall. See England's beaches are easily on par (if not better) than those in California. And we had to wear a wetsuit... In California (???) Couldn't quite jump up to standing on the sand so expectations were low. What started as quite normal good waves soon developed into insane waves. I was really in my element. Loved it!!! Next year I'll defo be hiring a surf board for the day when in Cornwall. After numerous attempts I finally got up on two feet... for a few seconds before THUD. Probably highlight of my trip so far - apart from the walrus - but then anything to do with boards, surf and beaches is me all over. It's just the beach bod I'm missing.
Tonight we went to Kristy's - a sports bar where an NFL game was on. It was all you can eat lasagne for $7.. only I spotted buffalo wings and blue cheese sauce on the menu so sod lasagne. Only in america... the bar owner...a lady in pink sparkly platform boots who spanks you as you enter with a wooden bat/paddle. erm ok.
Tomorrow we leave gorgeous San Diego and head on the road for Phoenix.
Toodles x
