OMG I've had such an amazing time on this island it's untrue! This is my favourite island by far and just what I thought most of the islands would be like! We've had a really good group of people to hang about with, which is always good J when we were on the ferry from Koh Samui, we were laughing as everyone except 3 people (excluding us) were bloody older couples or families!! I was like, what are we letting ourselves in for!! Then we saw 2 fit lads get on the ferry and I said to Vic that they are probably a gay couple knowing our luck!! Then one more kinda fittie walked on too. Turns out that we all ended up staying at the same lovely hotel (the boy followed us into our taxi) and we all had such a laugh ever since!
Our first day there was the King of Thailand's birthday, which meant that all the bars, restaurants and 7/11's weren't selling alcohol past something like 10pm. So we decided to start early and we were all drinking by about 8pm!! Haha Well yes, the night ended up pretty funny as we were all just drunk…………let's leave it there.
Next day me and Vic went to the beach and checked out the area. It's so nice, as there is nothing commercial about this island. No Tesco's or Starbucks in sight! Woo Hoo! There's just a nice beach and a few beach bars along the beach, then behind the beach there's a street full of little shops. It's so nice, I love it here! I am definitely coming back here, and I would stay longer but I've got to get over to Koh Phangan for the full moon party. At night there's fire shows and everyone just sits on the sand, or on these mats things. There's 2 main bars to go to, so when one closes, everyone goes to the other as its open till late.
The 6th was Lou's birthday and her and Bex met up with us on Koh Tao! It was so nice to see them again, especially for Lou's birthday! Me and Vic bought her a birthday cake with candles and some Ray Bans and she loved them! Another drunken funny night, met loads of nice people and had a laugh……..let's leave it there.
Basically I love this island and think it's the best Thailand island that I've been to. I've still not been top Koh Phangan or Koh Chang, although I'm not going to Koh Chang on this trip as not got enough time. It's just everything that I had hoped for and more. I took some amazing pictures of sunsets as they were beautiful! Everything is relaxed, but not boring, but at the same time not commercialized either! Just right! I hope it stays this way, as I can imagine that a lot of the islands would have been like Koh Tao 10 years ago, before the multinationals got everywhere.
Me and Vic are leaving today for Koh Phangan ready for the FMP on the 10th. Apparently there's supposed to be good parties before the full moon too, so I'm sure we will get fully involved with all the partying that's going on!
