I remember when I first arrived on the beach at Phi Phi I fell in love with this place, as it was so different to Phuket and just what I needed. There was a load of us by this point and we all stayed at the same cheap bungalows we could find. Me and Vic shared a bungalow but it costs us 7 pounds each - Thailand is by miles the dearest place in South East Asia that I've been to! They were called P P Pavillion and set back from the beach, but still overlooked the sea and cliffs, which was nice. Still, would rather pay 7 pounds here than at Patong Beach, put it that way! There were loads of beach bars on the beach, and some had these cushion things so u could lie down watching the sea and drinking. Wasn't until later on, on this island that this didn't turn out to be such a good thing….The island itself is tiny and has no roads, you can only get across the island by walking or cycling which is quite cool! We walked from the port to the other side of the beach with all our stuff and it only took us about 15 minutes in the heat, that's how small it is.
I ended up staying 6 nights on Phi Phi which I didn't think I would, as there is still loads of other places I want to see before we go to Koh Phanghan on the 8th December, ready for the full moon party on the 10th. But one thing led to another and ended up staying here for quite a while. For the first few nights, I was just so tired from all the travelling in general that I just went bed early and generally was being quite boring! The beach in the daytime was nice when the tide was in, but when the tide went out it left all the rocks on the sea bed and you couldn't even swim in it L Then, one night I started to feel really sick and was sick so much throughout the night! Then as I started to feel sick, Vic started to vom too! It was like the 'sick tent' from The Beach film! I can laugh about it now, but I've not eaten an omelet since as I swear it was that that made us so bad! For the next few days I just chilled and didn't drink anything as my stomach was still in pain, but luckily I had stopped being sick!! Even though we were quite far away from all the bars, the music at night was mental and I could hear it so clearly, not what u need when all you want to do is sleep and feel sorry for yourself! Think I was missing our fun group of people that we had at tubing too!
Anyway, after we had both recovered we decided to go on a trip to where "The Beach'' was filmed and see some other islands too. We just happened to book ourselves onto the party boat! What can I say……must have been peer pressure, or more like the night before we were out drinking and put a deposit down for the tickets when we were drinking buckets! It was so worth it though, as we went snorkeling and jumping off the boat! Me being me, bought a ridiculously bright orange top with matching sun glasses and thought it would be funny to wear them on the trip - I looked like I had been tangoed! I was really scared about snorkeling as people kept saying they saw little sharks! So really I was swimming with sharks! I kept to a big rubber ring but one of the guys we met thought it would be funny to push me back and I got dunked in the sea! Was not impressed as I hate salt water, I think everyone know that by now, as my face was a picture and I kept spitting out the water!! It was quite funny though, just wanted to make him feel bad! Haha I did see some pretty fishes though, so was worth it! We got back on the boat and started drinking more Chang (not my favourite beer, but be rude not to have a few!) and went to Maya Beach. It was really nice there - but much smaller than I thought it would be. Obviously loads of tourists there, but was still cool to see it. Got some really nice pictures as was happy snapping away all day! One of the guys we met had this amazing waterproof touchscreen camera/video and he took some cool pictures! Im def going to be tagging myself in them pictures on facebook! Haha He even did a viedo of the underwater snorkeling and you can see all the fish and everything! I think I need to get involved with a camera like that! On the way back the water got really choppy and rough and Vic got sea sick! We couldn't go to any more islands or the caves as the water was really bad! Nevermind! That night we met up with some of the people we met on the boat and had such a funny night! Think I might just leave it at that - we met some interesting and funny people put it that way! We were supposed to be leaving the next day, but as me and Vic were feeling better and could actually drink now, we wanted another night out in Phi Phi, so we stayed another day and night! Spent the day just chilling by the beach and back at the resort then started on the buckets at night, which is always going to be messy…and it was! Before we went out, a bar was showing "the Beach" on their big screen, so we had to watch that! Was so weird seeing Maya beach and having been there yesterday myself!
Am in need of some r and r now. Me, Vic and Curt are going to Ko Lanta tomorrow so will get my fix of sunbathing! God I lead such a hard life at the moment - only major decisions are what islands are to go next, what to wear and what bucket to order!! Love my life! X
