Day 132-134
Due to Deanna and Aaron kindly giving us a lift we arrived at The Macarthur's 12 hours early. We had lanned to drop off our bags and walk into Cambridge for breakfast as it was 0730 in the morning; although Roxy and Bob (the dogs) had other ideas. They barked and barked and barked as they heard people outside, we then ended up waking the whole house which was a surprise for them all. We did feel bad.
The girls we so excited we dropped them off at school, and then had a relatively relaxed day. The evening was all about peeling and chopping swede for the pasties, whereby we both developed blisters.
On the 7th Mel and Neil gave us a car for the day, Al drove as he has his licence with him. We went to the Bay of Plenty, specifically, Mt Maunganui and Whakatane.
At Mt Maunganui we climbed up to the summit, the views of the beach was amazing. The colours in the ocean were amazing. On our way back down from the summit we bumped into the local oddball who told us his theory on how the world would end. This stifulled our laughter and then we went for lunch and a smoothie, both were gorgeous and VERY filling.
We then drove to Whakatane and took a walk along Ohinemataroa (Whakatane River) to find out about the history of the town. We then had a 2 1/2 hour drive back to Leamington.
The 8th was all about getting ourselves ready for our flight to Singapore tomorrow.
