Day 250- The night bus was only 12 hours but one of the most uncomfortable yet, the seats were so hard and the road bumpy so we barely slept a wink. Luckily when we got off a little smiling man approached us touting us for his hotel. After some questions we agreed on looking at the room, it was a perfect location and nice and clean... and cheap! He also said we could have the room now for sleep and since it was still only 5am we snapped it up and caught some more sleep. We didn't have much planned for the day and in all fairness there isn't much to do so we slept in until 9ish and found breakfast in the form of a very good pork baguette from a street stall. Next stop was the beach- which is what Nha Trang is famous for, and it was beautiful. We had a walk along the very pretty promenade and picked a nice spot to lay our towels down. It was scorching hot so slapped plenty of cream on and soaked up the rays. We must have made it 25 minutes before we jumped in the sea, it was heavenly, surprisingly cool and clean. We spent about 2-3 hours reading our books and jumping in and out of the sea and then our stomachs started to rumble. We walked back to the main area and simply could not believe the amount of Russian influence. All the restaurant signs were in Russian along with their menus. We discovered that there are direct flights from Moscow so they have just overran the place and since hardly any of them speak English the Vietnamese have to cater for them with many of the locals even learning Russian! After finding somewhere for lunch we went to the guest house for some shade and Eve Skyped Grace and while I cracked on with some research. The night life appeared to be pretty good so we thought we would treat ourselves and got dolled up and decided we fancied some seafood. We found somewhere that sold seafood baskets and we shared one that was filled with oysters, mussels, prawns, squid and a small fish. It was just say enough to fill us but extremely nice. A lot of the bars had happy hours but they only offered deals like buy 2 get 1 free on cocktails that were a fortune. We found a backpacker one and had a couple of drinks and then after some searching found a small bar with good deals and we played some pool. We are both terrible so the game took about an hour. There was nowhere else that looked any good so we bought a kebab instead and went back having enjoyed our little jaunt out.
Day 251- There really wasn't much else to do in the area but one of Eve's friends recommended the mud pool spa. We looked into it and it was actually really cheap so we rang them and they came and picked us up. It only cost 4 quid for a 20 minute mud pool soak, hydrotherapy mineral shower then a 30 minute mineral spring pool soak. Plus we got access to all the pools and facilities. Brilliant. We donned our swimwear and took a shower first then jumped into the mud pool. We had to share with a Finnish woman but she was nice enough and we chatted about travels. The mud was a lot thinner than I expected, almost like water but grainy with a grey-brown colour. We rubbed it over ourselves and even dunked our hair in. Next we had to lie in the baking sun for 10 minutes so the mud dried up and then we took a power shower to get rid of it. Our skin felt so smooth afterwards and then we walked through the hydrotherapy mineral shower which was a lot fun and finally into the heated mineral bath. We soaked here for a while and then judging buy how shrivelled our fingers were decided to get out. It was a lovely little course and we were ready for a small nap by the pool. We found two recliners and ordered two ice coffees as we read our books and dozed. The pool we were beside was the 26 degrees heated pool so we took a dip and a swim. We lay about a bit more before moving over to the fountain pool and then the 40 degrees heated pool. This was like taking a bath but the pool was huge, we could barely manage a length before passing out. After a shower we ordered a pizza and chilled out for a while. We then went for a dip in the jacuzzi, another swim in the 40 deg pool and we then finished off in waterfalls. We hopped in the mini bus back and we skipped the shower as directed to let the minerals do their stuff! We decided to eat next door at a local beer joint and the food was great, we ordered some beef fried rice and fried morning glory with beef. We got ourselves straight to bed afterwards for an early bus in the morning.
