Where exactly are you staying in Hong Kong, Shenzhen or Kwung Tong,

The area isn't connected very well so yeah we had to treat it as a base for the whole of Yunnan province bascially, luckily though we worked things out so we never had to stay there, just got night trains.

why were you's keep backtracking to kunming, after going to other places? is that b'cos your digs where there , and also b/cos it was the only road, or best way to go to dali, im assuming.
