Day 192- Our boat to Koh Lanta wasn't till 12:30pm so we checked out, had breakfast and read our books in the shade. Once the time came we jumped on the long tail boat out in to the sea and joined the ferry. From here it was just an hour to Koh Lanta. Luckily we had booked somewhere to stay quite close to the port so it was just a short walk once we hopped off the ferry. Once we checked in we headed out in search of food, we managed to find some street food just round the corner and we got some pad thai and chicken kebabs to share. We both skyped home as it was my sister Grace's birthday and Lloyd's Dad's birthday also our Halifax card still wasn't working so we had to sort that out. We chilled out for a bit before we headed out for some tea. Not far from us was a lovely seafood restaurant overlooking the sea, we picked out a 'Jackfish' from the fish bar at the front and chose to have it BBQ'd in oyster sauce - divine!! We decided to rent a scooter for the next day, we explained at the hostel reception we had never rode one before, he looked uneasy and said it wasn't a good idea, Lloyd quickly changed his story saying he meant he hadn't rode one recently. Not sold on the story the owner asked to see Lloyd ride the bike, confidently he hopped on asking the owner to 'jog' his memory and show him where everything was - I could hardly hold my laughter in. But with no problems Lloyd managed to ride to the bottom of the road and back, as a final test he asked me to jump on the back to see if he could ride it with us both on, and he did no problem. The owner had no choice but to let us rent it, so feeling satisfied, excited and a bit nervous we headed to bed.
Day 193- We were up nice and early so we could make the most of having the scooter. We rode down the coast to Long beach, it was mainly took up by resort but still very nice, we didn't stay long before jumping back on the bike. We then drove over to the east side of the island to Old Lanta town. It was beautiful here and very traditional. We had a look in a few of the shops and walked down the Jetty, it was so hot! After a much needed ice-lolly we were on the road again. This time we rode to the very South of the island through the sea gypsy settlements but there wasn't really much to see. From here we had to head north going back on ourselves, then west and then back south again to the National Park area. We stopped along the way at a lovely little beach bar for some lunch. We got beautiful pineapple and coconut shakes and a big bowl of Thai green curry. We had a little swim in the sea and a cool down before getting back on. We drove to the national park but when we got there it was really expensive to get in and didn't really boast much. We had spotted a beautiful secluded beach just before so went back there, we parked up our bike and walked down. I jumped in the sea but nearly got washed away, it was so rough. I couldn't stand still the current pulled from every angle. We sunbathed for an hour or so it was so peaceful, really beautiful part of the island. I hadn't had the chance to drive the bike yet mainly because I felt more comfortable with Lloyd driving but I had my turn and drove back for most of the way before hopping off to let him back on. That night we found a lovely little local restaurant and enjoyed our final supper on the island.
