Lloyd and Eve go on holiday!
Day 188- We packed up the tent after fighting off thousands of ants who through the night had decided to completely cover the tent. We then had our final meal in the little restaurant and walked along to the jetty. The ferry was running on Thai time so was only 40 minutes late and we bid farewell to paradise. The boat journey back was fine and we arrived back at Pak Bara pier in time to catch a mini van. We had nothing booked so checked prices with a few touts and then settled on a decent price with somebody who could take us North to Krabi. The mini van turned up- again on Thai time, and we were on our way. We raced north and after only 1 hour we were already been told to get off and wait for another bus. We were in a town called Trang now and had a 40 minute wait until our coach was due to leave. We picked up fried chicken and rice for dinner and then boarded the coach. It was a further 2 hours of discomfort and sweating before we were dropped off on the outskirts of Krabi town. Here we were ushered into a tourist info but which was in actual fact a travel agency where they tried to sell us hotels and tours but after a few minutes they got bored of us saying no and agreed to get us a tuk-tuk to the centre. They showed us a guesthouse which turned out to be nice and also cheap so we checked in. It was fairly late by this point so after a refreshing drink we went in search of the night market. It was great, predominantly selling food and drinks so we picked a stall and sat down. My padthai was lovely but the seafood noodles I picked for Eve wasn't as expected as it came in a thick glutinous sauce with even more glutinous noodles, so we swapped and I shovelled them down. Back at the guest house we were trying to plan our route between the next islands and sort out a time frame. After asking the in-house travel agency a few questions we decided to book the lot through him. He was really helpful and since we booked a lot through him he gave us a big discount too- about a fifth of the price was knocked off, although most of it was probably his commission anyway. Feeling happy with our plans we had a good nights sleep.
