So considering we were only meant to be here 10 weeks we are doing well... 3 months later!
We have managed to get farm work at a beautiful farm 20k from us. It's called Oakey Creek, the family are amazing and we have our own cottage to stay in when we sleep over! It's pretty tough doing the hours for both there and the roadhouse but needs must - I refuse to go home so 2nd year visa come at me! Plus in all honesty, mustering cattle on a 4WD quad is much better than the horror stories I've heard of fruit picking 12 hours a day. Although it turns out I'm scared of cows haha and it's also unpaid but it's a nice experience spending time away from the roadhouse.
In other news i have started the travel plans.... Booked a hostel at Bondi beach for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year. They organise a BBQ beach party for Christmas Day and everyone heads to Sydney city centre for an all day session under the firework for NYE... So excited its not even funny! Hard work pays off! Meeting 3 of my favourite guys from the travels so far Scott, Simon and Chris - we done Ozintro together - and a guy who arrives today from Edinburgh, Danny. I have booked us tickets for the Christmas Eve Sydney Harbour Boat party eeeeeeeek! It's Ozintro who are hosting it and it's unlimited booze (goon and beer) and foods included haha SHWEEEEET! So so so so excited!
My boss has mentioned wanting to keep me on long term so seeing what happens there. Could be a student visa rather than sponsorship but see what happens when the times right and what suits best. The roadhouse we are in at the minute is up for sale though, so means if I come back I could possibly be working at the other roadhouse which is further inland, in Injune.
Me and Kim had two days off together and went to see some of the local sights our wee Springsure has to offer haha.. There's a wee place called Old Rainworth Fort, it was one of the first properties here. It is so cute, they have 3 buildings that have all been saved in their same state. A little school and mini house were transferred in and the little tour guide woman was actually hilarious, talking about the cows doing the toilet in the wrong places..... Hahaha. We then drove the scenic route upto The VirginRock that I have mentioned before. It was a scary drive, not for the faint hearted so glad we had the ute. We got some awesome pictures. To everyone at home it just looks like land and bush.... Which it is,but that's what we love. Our wee outback :)
Last but not least we have partied our wee socks off. Avoiding the pub but having many parties in our wee quarters... Waved off some amazing people in the process :(
I went to a little luncheon one of the locals held for The Melbourne Cup. Got All dressed up, had a beautiful lunch and even took part in a little fashion show wearing the most BEAUTIFUL dresses. Wanted to buy them all.... Such a nice day!
4 weeks on Friday until Bondi, can't believe another era is almost over!
Will be saying bye to Kim shortly as she moves to the Sunshine Coast, had a ball but I have learned over the past few weeks that I came on this trip alone and I am best doing what suits me and not anyone else :) So happy right now I can't even put it into words... BONDI HERE I COME!!!!!
