To the End of the Road
As you know yesterday we came back along an unmade road that ran along the coast. Well this morning I got up, had breakfast and by 7.15 was on the road to try and find that road again. Trevor (my Kep/Kampot Moto) needed several kick starts to get going but eventually he woke up and off we went. As I was driving we went a bit slower than we did yesterday!!
It was just glorious. When we set out it was just spitting with rain but that cleared very quickly and it was soon just the perfect temperature. As we were early I saw the informal markets where boats just come up to the coast and local people buy the fish/crabs. I also saw them mending nets and preparing their boats for tonight - it was fascinating- not many pictures as my camera doesn't have a long zoom.
I went past the school we saw yesterday and just kept driving to the end of the road - see picture. It just ended no dwindling down to nothing, no warning just the end!!
So what do you do if you reach the end of the road.
Me - I take my shoes off and walk along an empty beach until that ended in what looked like a deep and dangerous river.
Cambodian - he drives his moto onto the beach, through the deep dangerous river and just carries on!! (With a cheery wave at me)
On the way back I passed a pre-school that was also a reading centre. It was right on the water - literally and the children must have had one of the best school views in the world.
