New Adventure begins here!
The day had arrived, all the planning and preparation was done and there was nothing else to do but leave for the airport, left home at just before 9am for Heathrow.Arrived feeling very nervous and emotional, went to check in and discovered my bag was 7kg over what I was allowed...oops, paid the excess baggage charge and finished checking in, it was all done, I was leaving for my new adventure! Before going through security went for a coffee with mum and dad, before an emotional goodbye at passport control.
Now I was all alone and feeling worried but excited, I wandered around the shops in the terminal, there is not a lot at terminal 4, so got bored quite quickly. Finally I had my gate number, so made my way to the plane for boarding.Found my seat, which was a window seat, and got myself settled. No one else came and sat down, so had 2 seats to myself which was great, because I could spread out and not worry. We left Heathrow a little later than planned, but we were gone by 2.30pm, now all I could do was sit back and relax and enjoy the in-flight entertainment, which I certainly did. There were so many films to choose from, I started with 'Eat Pray Love', I had read the book so really wanted to see the film, next I started watching 'A Christmas Carol' but fell asleep through that, nothing to do with the film, was just so tired. After my nap, I watched 'The Social Network', which was really interesting.
The food was really nice (I have always loved plane food, strange I know), I had Harissa Chicken with cauliflower masala and turmeric rice, followed by chocolate and cherry crisp crumble yummy!!Then later on more food came round this time I had a chicken fajita wrap, was feeling very full after all that food.We were finally arriving at Abu Dhabi airport, it was dark outside, so couldn't see much apart from the lights from below.I made my way to the next gate and and got to my seat, this time I wasn't as lucky, had an aisle seat and two people sat next to me, so NO spreading this time!
Again I got settled and began to watch another film, this time it was 'Owls?' and after that I watched 'Salt'.There was also more food, which started with a snack of hot chicken noodles followed by breakfast, which included scrambled eggs with chicken sausage, sautéed mushrooms and lyonnaise potato, again it was all very nice.
Landed in Jakata at 1.45pm (local time), now I was feeling tired and nervous, as really didn't know what to expect, got off the plane and had to complete some forms before joining the queue at passport control, which luckly went very smoothly and I had my passport stamped and was allowed in, yippee! Next to find my bag, nothing is signposted with which flight is on what conveyabelt, so it was just a guess, luckily I spotted my bag and pulled it off, went through customs and found the PE teacher, Mr. Asrif, who was meeting me, it was very exciting to have someone holding a sign with my name on, hehe, it was also very nice to see someone smiling and who was very friendly!!By this point I was feeling the heat, I definitely needed to change out of my jeans, but first he took me to have some food, which ended up being 2 bits of 'KFC' style chicken with rice and a root beer (which I feel is an acquired taste, I certainly wasn't keen)!
Then it was to get changed before heading to catch the bus to the station. The bus took about an hour and was a good way to see a bit of Indonesia, one thing I noticed was everything was very green, which reminded me of home a little, once at the station we had quite a wait for our train, hour and half to be precise, with was long when it was hot and I was now starting to feel very tired, although noticed as trains came through the station, men sitting on the top of the trains, not sure why, I'm assuming so they don't have to pay.Once on the train, I honestly don't remember much of the journey as feel asleep, it was dark outside, so couldn't see anything.Once we reached Cirebon station Ms Regina and her husband were there to pick us up, she was very friendly and asked lots of questions. On the way to my house we stopped by Kate's house, so I could finally meet her, after lots of conversations over Facebook.I was so tired by now that all I wanted was to get into my bed, Ms Regina dropped me off at my house, where I met my house mate Chrissy.I dumped my stuff in my room and climbed into bed, as I knew the next day was going to need my full attention!!Sorry its so long, hope you enjoy!! xx
