So the day had come for us to do our sky-dive, i was buzzing and couldn't wait but Matt on the other hand was pooping he's pants. We got picked up at the pickup point just around the corner from our Hostel at 11pm. It was a 1hr and a half where it all began so just chucked the headphones in until we arrived. When we arrived all the staff seemed to be really friendly and trying to wind you up a little bit about your nerves and stuff. As we was landing on the beach we were in the second plane so we had to wait around for about 45 minutes for the first plane to get a chuck the people out. But if we looked up we could see the people from the first plane on there way down and you can here the screams from that far up. A couple of them looked like awkward landings which we found quite amusing but just hoping it didn't happen to us.
After everyone from the first plane was down it was our time to get into our harnesses and buckle up. As you got on the plane the bloke you were jumping with would sit behind you and buckle himself you just before you jump. It made me laugh as Matt was last in so the first out which he didn't seem to keen on as he had to sit next to the door which was see through and basically see everything as you went up. Each instructor had a watch that told you how many thousand feet you up in the air and at one point, he said 'we are only half way up there, another half to go' and we were well past the clouds at this point. I was loving it at this point, really excited but Matt didnt seem to move as he's instructor was trying to wind him up a little bit. So as the yellow light came on which meant 1 minute before the door opens was when we got excited before the jump and then green which means door opens and out you go. Should of seen Matts face as he was hanging on the edge of the plane before the instructor flings you out. This other girl was next whos face was a picture as she went down then it was my turn. As he flings you out you must have your arms crossed, bum poked out and head back so you don't catch yourself on the plane or nothing. Then your instructer will give you a tap about 2 seconds later to put your arms out and admire the 220kph drop for 60 seconds before the parachute comes out. You get suck a buzz as your falling and you can admire the views from so far away, amazing! Then the parachute came out and you float down for about 5 minutes admiring the views of the sea, rainforests and everything else you can see. I even noticed some wildlife in the sea, wasn't sure if it was turtles or sting rays as we were so far up but it was definatly moving just under the waters surface. Then we landed on the beach, i was last to land and noticed Matt sitting over on this fence looking like he was going to cry but as he came down he couldn't seem to pop he's ear and tehy was hurtng him, which was worrying him a little. They were alot better later on that evening. I asked the bloke what beach this was and he said 'Tandem Beach' which was a bit annoying as we did book our skydive to land on Mission Beach like everyone else that does it in Cairns, so we will be going to have a word with the Agency that we booked it with. After tiring trip back to our we just grabbed dinner and chilled out for the rest of the night but overall a fabulous day of skydiving and cant wait until our next one...
