So our long time in Cairns came to an end and pretty upsetting leaving Gilligans as we met loads of people there including the staff and bonded like a little family but at least we will all be together for xmas and new year. Cherrie and Chris were getting the bus down to Mission Beach with us so that was good. We all said our goodbyes and cuddles to everyone and headed for the bus station where the Greyhound (Bus Company) was leaving from. Got there and chucked our bags in the baggage bit and jumped on the bus which was quite already packed so had to find a seat with someone else. I spotted this blonde treacle up on the left so I went and introduced myself and sat with her for the 2 hour trip. She was from Germany and spoke good English so easy to talk to her. She was going all the way to Sydney which was a 50 hour trip with half hour break at Brisbane. I Even shared a couple of Salt and Vinegar rice cakes with her which she seemed to enjoy, what a gent I am! About an hour in i was falling asleep and nearly nodding into her which was quite funny so she blew me up a pillow and gave it to me, how nice. I was going to ask her to marry me haha! Cherry had a guitar that someone gave to her at Gilligans so she kept trying to play that and that women next to her didn't look to pleased, so funny though, she is crazy. So as we arrived at Mission Beach Bus Station I said my good byes to the German girl and should of got her number but bottled it. Grabbed our bags and there was a women waiting for us all to take the Scotty's Beach House which was where we were staying for the night. Me. Matt, Cherrie and Chris all got in the same room which was good so after getting into our room, we chucked our bags down, speedo's on and straight into the pool as it was so hot. Then i bumped into a Irish lad that me and Deb met when we went for a walk in Cairns, he was staying at our Hostel aswell and said there is absolutly nothing to do here at all but chill. We was only there for the night and getting the Greyhound down to Magnetic Island the next day so werent all bad. There was a log going right across the pool which me and the Irish bloke Shane decided to get on and have a Gladiators fight onit with a couple of floats which I lost 2-1 at as I kept laughing all the time and couldn't get my balance. Matt got asked to go on the beach and collect some fire-wood for the bonfire later that night which he did with a couple of others.
After the sun went down the staff went round and asked for $5 off everyone if they wanted to have a BBQ so everyone did, they went down the shop down the road and bought a load of food and they put a nice BBQ on for us. After dinner they would do a couple of trips down to the supermarket for people to get some alcohol for the night. At about 9pm after dinner everyone headed to the beach for the bonfire and drinks around the fire, we even took the Guitar to see if everyone would join in with a singalong. Then we met Jo, Gemma and Becky which were staying at our Hostel and they were from Watford so we was all sitting there chatting away, having a right laugh telling a few stories about the trip and life. We found out that they were literally doing the same trips as us on the same days and getting the bus at the same times etc so we now have a couple of traveling buddies for a week or so. Then Cherrie handed me the Guitar and told our little group to start singing Wonderwall (Oasis), so I was just strumming the Guitar and all our lot were singing away and then a few other got involved and started a big group singalong. It was really nice to see a group of people just singing together, we was thinking this is what travelling is about. Then the whole group created this big circle and we handed the Guitar to this Irish fella who coupld play the Guitar and he played Wonderwall aswell and by this time the whole group had joined in and people were having ago at me about how bad i was at playing it, the Irish put me to shame. So after about an hour Cherrie headed back as she was tired but about half an hour after Me, Matt, Chris, Becky, Jo and Gemma went back aswell to Cherrie snoring, we was all sweaty so we decided we were going to go in the pool so we woke Cherrie up to see if she wanted to. It was about 10.45pm by this point and straight away she got up and into her Bikini and we all went out there and none of us jumped in and then Cherrie said, 'f*** it, i'll go in first then'....SPLASH!! We was all about to join her when one of the staff come out and said we aint allowed in the pool even though another bloke said we could go in. We found it hilarious as we had woke up Cherrie to go swimming and she jumped in and had to get back out again. She didnt have a towel so she had to use her bed sheet so she was pretty cold during the night. Cherrie went back to bed and us and the girls played a game of cards (Rummie) for an hour or so which was quite funny and then went to bed.
The next moring we got up at about 9pm, packed our bags and had to check out by 10am. We put our bags in storage as our bus didnt come until 3.10pm. But we could still use our room as Chris and Cherrie were still staying a few nights before coming down to meet us at Magnetic Island. Then the girls invited us all on this 40 minute walk down the beach to this rain forest so we went. Lovely hot day and we all nattered about different things, having a laugh. About an hour into this walk there was no rainforest and found out that it was a 40 minute drive not walk so back we walked to the Hostel. Overall we walked for over 2 hours which killed a little bit of time so when we got back we all had a bit of lunch before our bus came. Becky, Jo and Gemma were on our bus aswell coming to Magnetic Island so we said our goodbyes to Cherrie and Chris and jumped on the bus ready for our next place, Magnetic Island...
