We thought we had some crap trips over the past three months, but as it turned out we saved the worst until the end. We caught a bus from Edinburgh at 5:45am and arrived into London after 3:30. No breaks, so we had no food, and the heater was pumping so it was a bajillion degrees. Then the driver pumped the air con, which was super loud and the whole trip was just fabulous.
Once we arrived in London, we were excited, but so wrecked from that stupid bus ride, that we didn't exactly do much. It took us about an hour to get our stuff together and catch the train to our hotel and check in and what not, and because were alcoholics now, we were so keen for a drink. We walked down the road to a pub and had fish and chips and booze. They had passion fruit rekorderlig. It was so good. We had a bit of a walk around after the pub, and ended up getting some snacks at the supermarket and going back to our room and relaxing an watching TV all night.
The next morning, we decided we were going to make the most of our first day in London. The plan was to play a game of real life monopoly and visit all the sites. We decided our starting point would be Trafalgar Square, so we hopped on our the tube for our first ride. Super exciting stuff. When we arrived at Trafalgar Square, it just so happened that of all days, this would be the day that the square had been taken over by Americans for a fan rally for the NFL. We left the square and walked around for a little bit, and ended up buying tickets to see Matilda the musical for Thursday night. We headed to Leicester Square after that, and stumbled across M&M world!!! I was so so pumped and excited. It is such a beautiful place inside that smells like M&Ms. It's so good. So so good. After getting photos with giant M&M's and walking around for ages, we left there we walked around and crossed off a few streets from monopoly. We ended up at buckingham palace and laughing at the guards with the furry hats. We walked through the palace gardens and seeing a heap of squirrels!! It was so exciting!! After spending a while chasing around squirrels and attempting to get them to come to us which failed, we walked down to Big Ben and Westminster Abby. We walked back to Trafalgar Square and passed the horse guards along the way. After lunch we decided to check out the NFL fan rally because we were there. The players for one of the teams - the Jacksonville Jaguars - passed through the crowd and I high fived one of the defensive back liners who looked like T-Pain. We bailed on that and went for a walk down Regent and Oxford Street. They were both so crowded so we decided to try to get tickets for a musical that night. After a lot if discussion in a random park, we finally decided on a musical, but as it turned out they were all either booked out to too expensive so we bailed on that idea and went to the movies to book tickets to see Bad Grandpa that night. We had four hours to kill after that so in that time, we ended up having dinner and walking around the same street about 6 times. We ventured out a bit more and walked past some guy on the street singing, "anyone lost of need information." Brendan hated my impression if him which was nice. We finally managed to waste enough time and it was movie time! It was hilarious. After it was over, we hopped on the tube back to our hotel, ready for a good nights sleep after a massive day.
On day three in London, we had a pre-booked Harry Potter tour that took us to some of the film locations around the city. We had breakfast at our hotel before we set out for the day, and headed to Westminster station. That was our first film location. Our tour guide had a folder full of stills from the movies to show us what scenes were filmed where. We headed down the street near where the prime minister of the UK lives, and ended up in Scotland Yard. A number of other scenes where filmed here. We moved along, and ended up catching a boat to the other side of the Thames River and were along Southbank. We walked to a couple of markets as well as along London Bridge and ended the tour at one of the markets in the city of London. After the tour, we went and got lunch along South bank before walking around and checking the area out a little. We headed back to our room for a little while and took it easy that night. We went out for dinner, and didn't do anything else overly exciting that night.
The next morning we woke up and had to pack up all of our things to change accommodation. Thankfully it was just around the corner so we didn't have to lug our bags around too far.
Changed hotels. Went to platform 9&3/4 did some shopping. Bought tickets to Charlie and jumpers.
