We arrived in Turku well prepared, thanks to the map Natalie had supplied us with. The hostel we stayed at is located along the river, and we were in walking distance of everything we needed.
From the station we walked past a couple of parks and there are trees everywhere. There were orange and yellow leaves all over the ground, and it was the first town we have visited that made us realize it is autumn. Turku is a gorgeous small town, we both wises we had a little bit longer there - at least another day - so we could explore it more. When we arrived, we dumped our bags and headed out. We took the long way around the the market square, but there wasn't much going on. There were a couple of little fruit and veggie stalls, but that was about it.
After hitting the market square, we had developed a bit of an appetite so, we headed to one of the restaurants noted on our map - Tinta. We loved it there. It's such a cute little place - and it doubles as a wine bar, always a good thing. Our food was amazing. They had lemon mayonnaise!! It was mind blowing. We talked about the lemon mayonnaise for a long time. Maybe because after 2 months you run out of things to say to each other, or maybe it was just that good. I'm pretty sure it was just that good. We headed to the supermarket after that to get some food for dinner and booze, because we had a fridge in our room. And every time there's a fridge in the room, you have to take advantage of the situation and drink alcohol. It's the law. Once we had bought the alcohol and were half way to our hostel, I remembered that I had read something saying that no alcohol was allowed in the rooms. I know right - why put a fridge in the room? Doesn't make sense. So we crammed it into the bag with the groceries and became smooth criminals. It was way too heavy so we had to take one loop each of the plastic bag and walk it home like that. It was a difficult task to begin with, but Brendan had a huge blister on his foot which have him a pimp limp, which really only added to the difficulty, along with the swag.
Once we made it back into the room successfully, we just decided to have a chilled night and hung out with our fridge. Besides, it was a Monday night, and not a lot was happening.
In the morning, I went to all the effort in the world to hide the fact that we had alcohol in our room. I did it so well that I managed to hide everything but the alcohol and left a few drinks in the fridge. That was my present to the hostel. We then hopped on the bus to the airport to catch our next flight. Our flight was from terminal two - which we arrived at way too early by the way - which also happened to be some form of a shed that didn't open until two hours prior to a flight. So we sat out the front of a shed for an hour before checking in, and boarding our plane that was Poland bound.
