Our stay in Helsinki was another short one, as we were only there for one night, so we had to make the most of it.
We arrived in from Saint Petersburg early in the morning on the train. It was nice not having to go through security to leave the station after Russia.
When we got to our hostel we dumped our bags and we headed out. We walked along and found a small market. We were pretty excited, they had a lot of locals food and produce and also, a lot of fish. Later on that day, we found out that it was the annual herring market - which explained the fish. We walked through a cute garden in the centre of town and then headed back towards the train station to find some wifi so we could Skype our parents because we're just wonderful.
Once that was done, we walked around a little more and found what we thought was a shopping centre, that turned out to be a huge cinema. We were pretty excited by that and decided to see a movie. We saw runner, runner with JT in it. Brendan enjoyed the poker themed movie. I on the other hand was waiting patiently for sexy to make a return, I don't feel that quite happened, but maybe next time.
We headed back to the hostel after the movie and managed to fit in some laundry. There was a creepy guy who just stood in the laundry the entire time and didn't leave. He kept suggesting that we put our clothes in the dryer with his to save time. I was completely against it, but impatient Brendan thought it was a fantastic idea and mixed our underwear with some random guys clothes!!!! This is what happens when you let Brendan go to the laundry on his own!! You get some laundry obsessed guy mixing everyone's clothes together. Apparently there were four different peoples clothes in the dryer!!! WHY?!! Anyway, after we survived that horror, we went out to dinner, before heading back to the hostel for some much needed sleep after only having 2 hours sleep the night before due to vodka consumption.
We slept in, in the morning and thought we were late to check out. We slipped the key card into a box sitting on the reception desk and rushed out while the receptionist was chatting to another person. Dodged that bullet. Because yolo swag. Then we walked back through Helsinki to catch a train to Turku.
