Today we completed the northern section of the OTL. It was interesting. We left the trailors back at camp. The track was a little more eroded, rutty and corrogated in places. We had alot of river crossings: scrubby, canal (rocky), sam, mistake, cannibal (steep and eroded), lagoon (swampy and long) and the infamous Nolan Brook - which so far this year has claimed 35 cars. Today was a rest day though we have been following some kangaroo car bash rally and although we had hoped for a sleep in their 30 car convoy was up early and playing their 'trip song' .... Today we completed the southern section of the OTL (overland telegraph line). The tracks were better then expected however a few of the creek crossings were challenging. Palm Creek although shallow had a very steep, muddy, rocky and slippery entry and a steep and muddy exit. Gunshot (which is well known) had a tricky entry as it was steep and required some manouvering with the car and trailor. Cockatoo creek had a very rocky rutty and steep entry into a creek...

After leaving Chilli Beach we headed back along Portlands Road back to the Penninsula Development Road. It is here the car got a flat tyre - interesting challenge to change this on the side of the road with no shade and cars passing showering us with red dust (because we needed more). Today we left Archer River Roadhouse and travelled to Chilli Beach. Picturesque drive with more red dirt however the end of the drive lead us to rainforest and Chilli Beach: beautiful! Chilli Beach is renowned for being windy - during the day it wasn't too bad however overnight the wind caused many of us a sleepless night or caused interrupted sleep. Still a beautiful place.
