Today we spent some time at Cooktown. A nice little town with alot of history.
We spent some time around the esplanade which has alot of historical monuments in particular the first fleet landing and also the chinese gold rush.
We went up to the Cooktown lighthouse - very steep drive up and a steep walk to the lookout. Was worth it as there were 360 degree views of Cooktown - spectacular!!!
We had lunch back at the Lions Den
Hotel with Adam and Kandi - nice burgers and Josh was able to drink a coopers pale ale, I think it was a nice change from XXXX gold.
The remainder of the afternoon was spent at the campsite enjoying the 30 degree weather.
Unfortunately one of the other cars is experiencing some difficulties and they will need to head back to Cairns to have this fixed - such a huge dissapointment and I really feel for them and they will be missed for the time they arent with us however we are hopeful that they can still make it to the tip and for the remainder of the trip. Fingers crossed for them.
