Our overnight stay at Charters Towers was nice - the caravan park was nice with cosy sites. They also had some activities for guests. The park also allowed campfires. A popular place for the Grey Nomad types...
We left Charters Towers around 9 and headed towards Townsville and through to a really lovely rest stop north of Cardwell.
The landscape changed from farmland/bush to tropical ! Lots of bananas and sugar cane! The crocodile warning signs also started popping up...
We arrived at Innesfail around 2.30 (unplanned pit stop #1) - the car is still having some issues. The rest of the group continued to Cairns.
The caravan park is right on the river - where crocodiles have been spotted (as per the signs). In january and februray of this year a 4m long croc was spotted and is now known as 'Peppi' (it is like he is the town pet) he is believed to still be around - fantastic. I am hoping I dont have to leave the camper until daylight.
Innesfail is a really pretty town - I am hoping to see a bit more while the car is at the mechanics. We are also hopeful that the car issue is minor and that we can spend some time in Cairns!
A big positive of Innisfail and North Qld is the temperature. Today was around 24 - nice!!! And as I type this it is still 20...
Over and out!
