Nervous Turkey!
At 6am we arrived at what looked like an abandoned car park and we were quickly ushered by a random woman into a shed. We had an hour to wait for our boat to the island.
Due to not being able to book any accommodation, this was our first task on arrival....along with everyone else. It is high season on the island and we have read stories of people having to sleep on the beach. Not wanting this to be us we raced ahead and secretly whispered not to tell anyone where we were wanting to stay. But this plan backfired as we had a 5 minute walk in land to be rejected at Ewans place, meaning that the guys on the beach were now in front. We soon realised that no where had rooms and in desperation we booked in to a Senja Resort chalets at double the price we were expecting. With thoughts of a one off night of luxury but on entry to the chalet we were sourly mistaken. Just a standard, run down, ant infested backpacker sweat box. Luckily Matt sourced the power to the air conditioning.
Opting to stay on the quieter side of the island, a ten minute walk to the east of the island took us to the Long Beach. Instantly we knew this was where we needed to be. A long stretch of beach, crystal waters and beach bars. Unfortunately we were stranded on coral bay due to the accommodation situation. Unable to bare the sun, we spent a day in the shade doing nothing. What we had been waiting for.
As the sunset around 7.30 we ensured we ate at the prime location. After this we sat in a beach bar accompanied by the full moon.....until the dark clouds rolled in but luckily no storm prevailed.
