Nervous Turkey!
Day 5 of Nothing
.....nothing.
.....until.
We were sat having something to eat on the beach as it got dark. There were still some people trawling the beach looking for a room for the night. Everything was peaceful and all off a sudden that smell filled the air. A moist, damp earthy smell that suggests Mother Nature is about to relieve herself but nothing happened. It was a good job as there were lots of people sat eating, chillin, sleeping and drinking on the beach. We decided to go for a drink, a bar where you could lay down and just zone out to the tunes (reggae of course). Just as we got settled, it happened. The wind picked up and one monster blob after another, the biggest monsoon we have been involved in yet unleashed itself on the island as in an every man for themselves battle the occupants of long beach scattered for shelter. Within moments we were saturated, by the time we reached our room we had lost the losing battle of trying to remain dry. A difficult task as our room is a five minute walk off the beach in the pitch black jungle. The words of 'Spud' (a wiseman we met in Cambodia) were ever present during the dash, "You have to be very careful when it rains on the islands, things get washout to places where they normally wouldn't be!".
Now the challenge of drying out clothes in this humid box we call home.
