I left Brisbane nice an early, arriving in Noosa just after 9am. After settling in and collecting supplies I decided to take the coastal walk around the national park. It was beautiful, but very hot. The views were stunning and I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, nearly stood on a snake, which I was later told is one if the most deadly snakes in Australia!!
I came to a beach, minding my own business and looking at the mass of dead jellyfish washed up in the sand when I look up to find a man 60+ with a hat, open shirt and nothing else on!! I have to say I could have gone another 40 years without seeing a 60 year old mans penis!! Yes... I'd stumbled upon a nudist beach, the occupants all seemed to be above 40 at least.
Finally reaching sunshine beach I was exhausted and parched. After a refreshing drink I went back to the hostel relaxed and met people in the bar to watch the evening of drunken games where people made fools of themselves for random prizes.
Day 2 in Noosa was another early start, this time heading into the Everglades. A group of 17 of us were left about a 45minute boat ride from Noosaville with canoes and a hand drawn map of the Everglades, a self guided tour for 3 days and 2 nights. I went with a German girl; Julia in one canoe. The others in the group were all European; German, Dutch, English and French. The canoe trip was hard work but good fun. We set up camp at Harry's Lodge and relaxed for the afternoon.
Day 3's itinerary was mammoth. Everyone was up early after an uncomfortable sleep on hard ground. We left camp around 8:30am on our canoes (after I had to get rid of a big spider from someone else's canoe - spider phobia pretty much gone!) for campsite 3, 6km upstream. We had been told that the route up to the sand dune was closed due to a high bush fire risk. However, despite this we went anyway. It was a 12km round trip, exhausting, but worth the views. The final 6km stretch back by canoe was not enjoyable, but I was pleased I'd managed a 24km trip when exercise for me normally consists of walking around at work!
That night in camp we'd had food and were sat chatting in the dark when something ran straight over my foot. I screamed, thinking it was a giant spider, and everyone jumped up on the table and freaked out. We soon found out that it was a small mouse!
My last day in Noosa was a long one. Travelling another 8km by canoe to get back. Then relaxing back at the hostel and beach with some of the Dutch girls I'd met on the trip. Despite being exhausted I still went out for a "quiet one", which turned out not to be so quiet.

Dad Well, more experiences... all providing memories. And whilst removing innocences hopefully providing enjoyment and eventually wisdom! Love you darling, and thanks for keeping us in the picture. Love Dad xxx
