A real tight time schedule today. Got the bus into the centre for my team briefing , Graham checking in for his aquathon all by 9 am. Luckily we did get a good nights sleep. The Aquathon was just a warm up for the big events Graham said so why was he so nervous. All went well 2nd GB and 7th in the World not bad eh?
We located the bikes and had to assemble them. We had shipped the bikes out separately at great expense but otherwise it was going to be a logistical nightmare with 2 bikes going via Chicago. Our pick up man informed us that he had picked up Louise Minchim's bike and there it was in the room with ours . Just as we were assembling the bikes there was knock on the door someone else had come to assemble their bike. " hello I'm Louise Minchim" and in she came with her family to assemble her bike , well, like me with a bit of help from her husband. She was very friendly and charming and just as excited and nervous as the rest of us. So we had a photo shoot with her and I even gave her one of my brunch bars which I had stowed in my bike bag, she had just come off the pane so was quite hungry.
We had to go and rack our bikes ready for the next day and then there was the team parade and opening ceremony, the BBC were filming so maybe we will be on TV. By this time we were beginning to flag and the heat was getting to us one man fainted nearby, so we headed off back to our hotel stopping at The Cheesecake Factory for pasta . It was a bit of a performance waiting for a table the place was just so popular. The huge portions defeated us but they provide you with a box for a doggy bag. Graham couldn't even manage any cheesecake. We staggered back home straight to bed , too tired even to get in a panic about the big day tomorrow.
