After a good night' sleep on the train we woke up to another bight sunny day. We had breakfast I and settled back down to enjoying a bit quiet reading and watching the World go by.. My only disappointment was that the scenic bit along Lake Eerie must have been passed in the darkness, now all we saw were farms and a bit of industry however we soon were arriving at Chicago and the stage of our journey.
We got a taxi to our apartment to drop off our luggage and then decided to walk back along the lakeside to the Triathlon centre. There were quite a few triathletes swimming off the beach in their wetsuits. I decided that I don't want to be putti non a wet wetsuit and a practice swim is really not going to do much for me.
The location of the triathlon was in Grant Park and her we had to register. The whole of the lake front on the south side is an attractive park area, however 2 large highways and a railway have to be negotiated so there are a number of bridges and tunnels to solve the problem.
We went looking for our bikes at the team hotel but there was nobody around to confirm that had arrived . Graham had team briefings to attend so I joined in even though my official briefing was tomorrow, but at my age the more times you are told something the more likely you are to absorb the information . We walked backed along the Magnificent Mile which is really magnificent with beautiful buildings and all the shops of 5th Avenue but in tree lined Avenue with lovely flower beds. Chicago has some lovely buildings and shops I don't suppose I will get a chance to visit many apart from the supermarket!
