The weather is a bit overcast and rain is forecast but we start our morning with a 6 mile circumnavigation of Jasper running along the heritage trail. The first half was very flat as it follows the railway but the second half goes up into the hills behind Jasper so was a lot slower with plenty of Strava segments!
We decided to visit Maligne Canyon. A large car park suggested it might be very busy especially as it was a bank holiday today. The canyon was very impressive and as usual at these tourists spots most people don't venture much further than the car park. Of course there was some more geocaching involved on the long walk along the canyon and river but apart from a bit of drizzle the rain disappeared.
We visited a number of other lakes around the area all very scenic and quiet and we concluded that most people were heading back home to Edmonton. Jasper is suppose to be bear spotting country but we went to Australia and never saw a kangaroo.
We stopped in Jasper on the way back to the hotel to get some milk and by the car door I saw a bundle of leaflets in the gutter which someone had obviously dropped. Graham was disgusted when I picked up these dirty old leaflets but I recognised that they were the brochures of the company that does the trips for the glacier adventure and the new glacier skywalk and inside were the tickets! There were a £100 worth of tickets lying in the gutter for 2 adults and a child. I might have to adopt a child. I was thinking of buying these tickets on line before we came but decided to wait just in case the weather was really bad . Some person must be really gutted that they lost their tickets.
We got back to the hotel and had a relaxing soak in the hot tub and a swim before finding more geocaches in Jasper!
