Hinton was OK ,we did a run, some geocaches and I think it was our cheapest hotel and we got breakfast.
The scenery out of Hinton got more dramatic as we approached the Rockies. We decided to go up to Miette hot springs, but being bank holiday weekend they were very crowded and abandoned the idea , so we went off on a walk which kept taking us higher and higher through forests, ideal territory for bears we thought but no bears were seen and we never got to anywhere of significance so abandoned the walk and came back down. I took a tumble on the way so was covered in mud and I am awaiting for a large bruise to appear.
We went on to Jasper which has lots of beautiful lakes and mountains . We found a flat walk which took us past somebody's wedding on the shores of Lake Beauvert It was a lovely setting for wedding photos apart from the walkers going past.
Jasper is busy as it is bank holiday so we didn't have a lot of choice of hotels but room is good and has a laundry to wash my muddy clothes .
We wandered into town doing three geocaches on the way. Jasper is a bit like an alpine ski resort, although it mainly caters for cross country skiers and skating on lakes rather than downhill. Summer is its busiest time with mountain bikers and hikers. The Trans Canadian
train had stopped in town for 45 minutes and we met a lady desperately looking for a liquor store, had she drunk the train dry?
