We had to go for a run this morning just to take some pictures of Quarry Lake near to our hotel that had the most amazing reflection of the mountains. I think we saw it at its best in the early morning light.
We packed up the car for a journey through the Kananskis Country, a less known park between Banff and Calgary. A scenic route had been recommended but then we found out this was on a gravel road and we turned around to go on the main road which was far more comfortable for the 72km journey and equally scenic.
There are ski areas here and we climbed up through a pass where the snow was on the ground. We stopped here to explore, but the walking trails were a bit icy. The roads were full of cyclists and there was an Iron bike event going up the mountain which looked a bit hardcore. As it was a sunny Saturday everyone makes the most of good weather because soon the long cold winters will be keeping the cyclists indoors for the winter.
The scenery suddenly changes from mountains to cattle ranches and we were soon in Calgary to stay with a distant relative of Graham also called Graham who had a son called Graham . Too many Grahams! Graham and Louise his wife made us vey welcome in their lovely large house on the edge of Calgary. We slept in the basement which the size of a normal apartment.
