It was a beautiful sunny but cool morning so we went off for a run around the outskirts of Canmore. The scenery here is stunning and there is a vast network of trails some a bit hilly but we are in a mountainous region
After coffee and toast we went back to Banff to Lake Minnewanka for a boat cruise, only because we had some free tickets. The lake was vast and the scenery was beautiful but no more spectacular than a lot of the other lakes and although the commentary was informative I am glad we hadn't forked out the $45 that we should have paid.
We picnicked and walked up a trail nearby but it was further to the top than we thought and walking through the forest not seeing bears got a bit boring.
We retuned to Canmore to explore the town centre . Canmore has lots of big expensive houses which was reflected in the lovely shops, I am always fascinated by patchwork shops and I this town has an internationally famous one with a vast display of patchwork material and kits , so I bought a little Christmas hanging to do as a memento of my holiday but I doubt if it will be finished for this Christmas or the next or ever? We stopped for an ice cream as it was the warmest it had been for days, and all day sunshine is forecast for our last day in the Rockies tomorrow.
