hello there!
Well, we are now on ko phangan, and have discovered it is a major party island, not as relaxing as ko samui. Ally's friends arrive at some point today, so looking forward to catching up with them.
The ferry over from ko samui was awful, crammed full of hundreds of people, and was quite stormy. It took a lot longer than expected. When we arrived at the pier, we got in a truck taxi which has 2 benches in the back for the passengers and all the bags go on top of the truck. Unfortunately, i was the unlucky one whos bag happens to fly off the top! Ally went running down the road after it, but at least it fell off right outside our hotel, and nothing was damaged. The hotel is sweet! Lovely room, and the pool is right on the side of the beach, so it has some beautiful views.
Yesterday, we went on a day trip snorkelling around ko tao and ko nangyuan. These islands are famous for the corals and snorkelling/diving. ko tao means turtle island as it look like a turtle from the sky. ko nangyuan is so beautiful, it was 2 small islands connected by sand in the middle. (see photos) We also got some underwater photos of us snorkelling, which are so cool. Last night we went to a thai boxing match. Thai boxing is the national sport, and is brutal! They not only use their fists, but also elbows, knees, feet, anything! There was 7 matches, with both guys and girls, starting from about 6 years old! We met some more people from our tour aswel, so think we will go over to their pool party at their hotel tonight.
Today we are just going to lounge around and keep an eye out for the dentists.
Speak soon,
Lauren and Ally
