Last Sunday was Australia day so to celebrate we did the whole BBQ thing and drank a fair (lots) amount of beer, when in Rome and all that...
We woke up on the Monday, a public holiday - luckily, with stinking hangovers so we had a lazy day. When we felt a little more human we venture out for a walk to the Studley Boathouse for a refreshing beverage and ice cream. We also had a good giggle at the people trying to row down the Yarra river, we were far too delicate to show them how it's done properly, shame!
Tuesday it was back to work for me and for Davie it was a game of golf.
On Thursday Davie ventured out the Melbourne museum where he got to see some of the props and cars from the James Bond films.
Friday was my last day at work so me and Roushan, who I work with, did lots of baking the night before so we sat and ate cake ALL day! It was epic. That night we had Davie's leaving party round one of his work friends houses. That was a brilliant night, I got to meet most of his work friends and they were all lovely - even though they do enjoy picking on the pommes. Dont worry we gave it back just as good! Needless to say we had monster hangovers on Saturday (twice in one week...we must be getting back into the backpacker mentality).
Saturday night we headed out to a comedy club in North Melbourne which was fantastic, we didnt stop laughing from start to finish. It was so good we even forgot about our hangovers.
Today we are getting our sh*t together so we've booked the campervan for our trip which we pick up on Friday. That means we have 5 days to dig out the backpacks and sort out our belongings argh!!
As we still have the Great Ocean Road to do we will be driving out to the West before we head East, we plan to spend two days driving along the coast to Port Fairy then we'll head North East through the middle of Victoria which will take us just shy of Sydney and onto the Grand Pacific drive - another spectacular coastal drive. After this we'll skirt around Sydney to the Blue Mountains then back onto the coast to Newcastle. Then we'll pretty much follow the coast until we get up to Cairns, four weeks later, stopping off at anywhere that takes our fancy. We've already earmarked lots of places that we'd like to see along the way so keep an eye on the blog because it's about to get interesting!!!
