Last night we went to our first outdoor cinema since arriving in Australia, the cinema was located just off St Kilda beach on a big grassy area. We'd booked ourselves onto a viewing of the film Rush so we arrived early to snag ourselves some good deck chairs. We came very prepared with our picnic and best of all our sleeping bags!! Everyone looked at us with envy as we made ourselves snug as a bug in our bags on the deck chairs - it may be warm during the day but it still gets chilly at night, it is Melbourne afterall!
As the sun set into the sea behind us (I forgot my camera dammit!) the film began. It was a great film and I really enjoyed the novelty of being outdoors, it was pretty refreshing. The only disadvantaged was getting dive bombed by a couple of giant moths. Oh and there was a funny moment when some lads were walking along the beach and shouted out "Thor where's your hammer!" And "He dies in the end!"
So I've got the bug for outdoor cinemas now and luckily there are loads of them during the summer months - there's a rooftop cinema in the city I wouldn't mind trying. They're showing a couple of Christmas films so maybe it'll help get me into the spirit of the festive season.
Anyways I'd better go, it's Saturday morning here and I need some coffee :-)
