Tuesday
We woke up early in order to pack yet again and move to our new hostel in Glebe. We hopped in a taxi to take us the 20 minute journey but we soon started realising that there wasn't a whole lot to do in Glebe.
We dropped our bags off and headed out to investigate. We found the harbour walk which we did in 10 minutes and then wondered into town! For everyone in Guernsey it reminded me of at martins village.
After covering the whole town street we decided to jump on the first bus back into the city. Within an hour of arriving in Glebe we were back in Sydney! Wondered round the city again, had a pie and sorted our phones out.
We then headed back to Glebe and parked ourselves in the local park with our books until the sun went down.
Noodles for dinner and then we hit our beds. Unfortunately it's the type of place people stay for long periods of time, i.e months so no one was particularly friendly or helpful and it meant we were stuck with top bunks with no ladders or rails to stop us falling out! This made for a fun nights sleep! It also didn't help that the girl under Mel was a snorer!
Wednesday
In the morning we were up bright and early for our shuttle to the airport. One bathroom between 24 dorms was interesting. Managed to locate some outside toilets which weren't too bad!
Soon we were at the airport and checking in for our flight to cairns. Slightly concerned as we'd already had to pay excess baggage on a domestic flight in Thailand but fortunately we got away with it. Mel however did not get away with the scissors she had accidentally left in her bag coming through security.
Soon enough we were sat on the plane and on our way up north. Luckily cairns isn't a massive airport so when we reclaimed our rucksacks didn't have far to walk till we came across a shuttle bus to gillighans - our home for the next 4 nights.
We arrived at the hostel and wow! It's the nicest by a long way, so big it's almost a resort! Has it's own bar, casino and nightclub. Plus the rooms are nice. We're in a 6 bed female dorm and the other girls seem really friendly.
Me Mel and nina from Zurich decided to head downstairs and check out the free dinner situation we'd seen advertised. Not a bad deal - buy any drink and then you have the choice of 2 free dinners. We opted for the chicken with mash, peas and gravy and it wasn't bad.
After dinner the hostel put on a bingo game with a difference and obviously alcohol related. Being completely knackered though we didn't see the end of this and headed to bed.
