We woke the next morning to blue skies so rang ahead for the glacier hike - so far so good! They asked that we check in at 9 so we had breakfast and headed down.
At 9.30 we were being kitted out with boots, crampons, waterproofs and a bag to take up - yay we were going!
Once the group was ready we walked to the helicopter field where luckily we were given the front row seats which meant the best view!
We landed on the glacier and had just over 2 hours of exploring with our guide. It was truly amazing...like a winter wonderland! It's sad to think though that in 10 years the glacier will be so unstable that we won't be able to go up it and in 40 years it will have likely disappeared completely!
It wasn't as cold as I had thought it would be but there was still fresh snow so snow angel was a must even though I was the only one with this thought. Snowball fights did happen and Mel even attempted a tiny snowman!
We even got to experience a rock slide in the distance but the noise was something else! After the 2 hours were up we made our way back to the helicopter where we got the front seats yet again!
On arriving back at the hostel after the most amazing day we sat and uploaded the pics - no way I'd want to lose these!
