29 - Sunday 2nd November 2014 Cairns, QLD, EAST COAST with APRIL
Woohoo April has arrived Last night and it's time for us to start our east coast adventure down to sydney! We had a farewell BBQ an drinks with Nico and his friend last night as the headed on down to magnetic island. April and I are buzzing we have 4 weeks, and heaps of activities planned along the way, it's going to be an adrenaline dream.
Day 1- Great Barrier Reef- Ocean freedom
Today is our first day of the adventure and we have booked a barrier reef trip which includes, snorkelling, and diving in the ocean. We got down to the boat at about 8am and the day begin. Much like when I did the pro dive we were able take ourselves off alone and find all the ocean life on the scuba dive. Whiles diving we saw a reef shark which was sitting on the bottom about 16m down and was a baby. The shark was around 2f long and plenty big enough for April and I. We also saw a few blue star fish which were pretty cool, sea cucumbers, Nemo, barracuda, blue spotted ray and plenty of other colourful characters. The dive was good but not as colour off the reef as some of the coral which I saw on the pro dive dives. Although this reef was an inner one so more people tend to visit.
The day was great we also got a glass bottom boat out and saw the fish and big barracuda swim under our feet whiles taking in the special views of green island. We were able to snorkel as well which was pretty awesome as we went on a tour with the guide. He was able to show us a massive ray, it was about 4f wide and hiding under in a cave which we duck dived down to. I got some photos it was so cool. On the snorkel we also got to see the Nemo's up real close and although we got plenty of photos, a self with Nemo was harder than expected. The day diving and snorkelling was awesome and we were even able to top up our tan along the way.
Day 2 - Rainforest - Uncle Brian's adventure
Wow so the day in the rainforest started real early, we had to be ready for pick up at 7:00am. Although hungover from a night at the Woolshed we made it. As you can imagine being up at 7 for a big day out after a few hours sleep and plenty of goon, we didn't start the day too enthusiastically. However after an hours drive into the forest and the first dip in the waterfalls we soon woke up and the day started to become really enjoyable. Our first stop was called the Josephine falls, it was a river with massive boulders and a natural slide had been created out of the rocks. The rocks were so sloppy so climbing up in order to slid down was just as entertaining as going down. Haha it was so funny, me and April formed a train with some other guys we met on the trip down the slide, head first. The water was freezing but the excitement of the slide and the laughs with the group made that stop just hilarious and so entertaining. We then all huddled back onto the bus for some serious singalong tunes.
When then arrived at the millamilla falls which is where Peter Andres mysterious girl video was filmed as well as many shampoo adverts. Here the water was freezing so we eventually plucked up the courage to get in and have ago at recreating those hair adverts where we flick our hair up in front of the water fall the results as you can imagine were amazing haha. We had a great time and all the all the day was probably one of the best yet.
Day 3 - Mingjing bungee swing, Cairns.
Today's the day we throw ourselves over the rainforest 45m over ground in a swing style. The best part about it was April and I could do it together so we were actually attached to each other. The swing was awesome an much scary than I thought it would be, at the point of the drop we both just screamed and at that point I just knew the sky dive the next day would be unreal.
