Wednesday 5th November 2014 ~ Skydive on Mission beach.
So today's is the day we get up and pack early and head over to Misson beach, where will be doing a skydive. They say Misson beach is the best place in the whole of Australia to skydive as you get the view over the barrier reef and it's also the only beach landing in the country. The skydive is 14000f high and probably one of the scariest and craziest things I will do in my whole life. When I woke up all I could think about was the excitement and how good the video was going to be. It wasn't until we got to Mission beach and we started to watch the safety videos that it dawned on me what I was doing and quite how insane this would be. All I could think about was how much fun the free fall would be and how much of a buzz it would give me. Although in the back of my a voice keep saying, what if the parachute is not packed properly. I also thought I would try really hard to make sure the guy in my back was my friend, so I chatted away. (He's defiantly not someone you want to fall out with ). As the day went on and we filled out paper work and waited for our call, the more time went on, we seemed to hype it up and start to feel a little more nervous.
That was it at about 2:00pm we got called and it was our turn to throw ourselves 14000f out of a plane over the Great Barrier Reef in the attempt to land on Misson beach. We went down and got sized and kitted up ready to take the trip down to the plane. The plane I can only describe as slight better than a paper aeroplane, in fact, first of all I thought it was a remoter controlled one. Once on the plane with the 8 other divers and instructors people were really starting to get excited. I was near the back (thank god) which meant my jump was 5th...no one wants to go first. Then it was time for the door to open, the noise of that and the air that high up made everybody realise the reality of what was about to happen. Looking out that door and down to the clouds, birds, and eventually ocean made me realise how high this really was. The first one had gone, bloody hell I thought he just feel out to be honest, but apparently it was all "under control". And like a stone he was gone and we could know longer see him, which mean It was now nearly my turn. As we shuffled along nearer the door and a few more people had gone I realised this was going to happen now no matter what.
It was my turn, I was sat on the edge of the plane, feet tucked under, feeling the air on my whole body, putting my head back, hips out and thinking I was about to meet my destiny. Then we fell!!!!!! Oh my god it was incredible after a second I opened my eyes and realised I was still alive and from then onwards I really started to enjoy the fall. The free fall lasts about 60-80 seconds but it feels like a lifetime. It's incredible I can't really write down how it feels because the words are not able to give it justice. All I can say is I have never felt so alive in my life! Watch the video for my full reaction haha.
Once the free falling was over it was the parachute seemed tame, as we sailed in over the ocean and down to the beach, it was incredible views. Once on the ground my whole body could not stop shacking, I felt like I could hardly stand. It must have out my body in to some level of shock and although in no discomforts at all the shacking lasted about an hour. I can honestly say this was one of the best experiences of my life. I would definitely do it again and I loved it!!!
Thursday 6th November 2014. Truly river white water rafting extreme.
I had been looking forward to this rafting for a while and have heard it can be extra and deadly which sounds right up mine and Aprils street. Although after that skydive I'm not sure anything else will ever seem extreme. The rafting was a fun full day out on the Tully river going up and down fast river rapids in a small boat. It was fun and we all got the chance to get out an jump off big rocks, as well as going down some natural water slides which drag you under the water. The rafting was a great day but certainly not as extreme as the day before.
