25 - Saturday 11th October 2014, Palm Cove, Cairns, Queensland, Australia
I have been in Cairns a week now with my family, already we have had such a fantastic time and made so many memories. Going to pick them up from the airport was special I saw Ants first and then the others followed, we had such a good first few days just catching up and spending time together. Cairns for the first few days was a case of chilling just to get them all over the jet lag, and used to life on this hemisphere which I have become so accustomed too. (Yep you may aswell call me am Aussie now)
The first day out we all had together was a trip to the Daintree rainforest which is in the far north of cairns you may of heard of it as cape tribulation. This rain forest is actually the oldest in the world. We spent the day on a cruise along the Daintree river spotting what the Aussies called 'saltys' better known salt water crocodiles. We then went onto a fabulous beach where we were the only people to sit by the sea, looking out at the Great Barrier Reef having a typical English Beef sandwich. The rainforest was incredible, we were able to swim in river water holes, see wild crocs, listen to the buzz of the wildlife and enjoy the experience together.
Charlie, Kris and Antz spent a full day snorkelling on the reef and had an amazing time, finding nemo, turtles, rays and lots of fish. Dad and I have decided to save our reef experience for the live on bored dive trip which we have booked for the 16th October for 3 days with pro dive and are very excited about. So while they spent the day on the reef Mum, dad and I went off to the croc farm and spent the day learning and watching croc attacks, feeding koalas and Roos.
Cairns just has so many activity to offer so means everybody is able to do what suits them. Today we booked a wake boarding trip so we all set off to learn to wake bored. It was great, although I say this now with aching arms. It was awesome and we have so much more to look forward too. I am having such an awesome year it's amazing to be spending some of it with my family enjoying this incredible country.
Roll on the next adventures....
