We woke to heavy rain for the first time on the trip. We decided not to get our stuff wet and go snorkelling again, so we hung around on deck and in the cabin while most people had another dip.
Lunch was served very early at 10am(!) but it was only hot dogs so we managed to force a few down! Then it was back to port at Airlie Beach after a fantastic couple of days. Definitely a trip we'll remember!
Back at Airlie Beach, we had a few hours to kill before our next overnight Greyhound at 8pm. First, we headed to the lagoon, a huge open-air freshwater swimming pool, for a dip. It was a nice spot but the rain came again and we had to wait it out before running through the puddles for a shower!
We stopped to eat at a backpacker bar called Down Under, where we got food and a drink for $13 - bargain! Soon, it was time to collect our bags and reluctantly head for the bus stop - none of us were looking forward to another night on the Greyhound!
While waiting, we bumped into Sally and Med from our Fraser Island trip - they were catching the same bus to Townsville - not quite as far to travel as us!
The journey turned out to be a bit of a nightmare - were hit by a storm after about 2 hours and the bus started to leak - Laura's seat got soaked in water! As a result, we didn't really get a lot of sleep - glad this is our last overnighter (and last Greyhound!) in Australia!
