Our last full day in Surfers Paradise today…so we went to the beach! We had originally planned to go to one of the theme parks today, but decided we didn't want to spend that much ($80 each!). Then we thought we might get the bus to Byron Bay for the day, since we couldn't stay there on our way up the coast (they were fully booked everywhere!)…but then we found out it would cost $46 each for the bus, so that idea was scrapped too! Today we had another pool day at the hostel, soaking up the sun and catching up with our books. A quiet day in Surfers today. We stayed at the hostel and chilled out by the pool for most of the day - still seems weird for hostels to have pools, as that didn't happen in America, so we're making the most of it! We also tried our best to catch up with a few things online, although the 'free internet' here isn't the best - the signal seems to be strongest in the one area where there's nowhere to sit! We were woken up a few times during the night by our 3 male roommates, returning from the big night out at different times. The funniest was when one of them came in at 5am, switched the light on (apologising to us as he went), went in the shower, then when I woke up an hour later, found him fast asleep sprawled on the floor!
