Today we had a bit of a long wait in the hostel for our bus. We had to check out at 10am, but our greyhound to Airlie Beach didn't leave until 3:30pm. We filed our time by writing the diary and playing on the internet! Lena waited with us until her bus at 12:30, then we were on our own for the last 3 hours!
The bus was a bit late, but it was quite empty and very comfortable for the 2 hour journey to Hervey Bay, where we had to wait for a connecting bus to Airlie Beach. The bus driver kindly locked our bags away for the next driver to get, so we were able to go for something to eat without lugging our rucksacks.
We were spoilt for choice when it come to eateries - within 10 minutes walk from the bus stop was a McDonalds, KFC, Subway, Hogs Breath Café, Noodle Box, Hungry Jacks (aka Burger King) to name but a few! We finally decided upon Hungry Jacks, and then on our way back to the bus stop, stopped at Dan Murphy's to pick up some goon for the Whitsundays trip.
The bus to Airlie Beach was surprisingly full, but we managed to get seats together. We spent the first few hour watching 'Superbad' on the laptop, before trying to sleep. We both slept quite a lot, but were interrupted a few times during the night when we stopped or changed drivers.
Overall, it was a successful overnight bus journey!
