We woke to heavy rain for the first time on the trip. We decided not to get our stuff wet and go snorkelling again, so we hung around on deck and in the cabin while most people had another dip. After a comfortable night in our cabin (we even had a double bed!), we were woken up at 6:30 for breakfast, which was an amazing buffet of cereal, fresh fruit and toast with all sort of jams and spreads! We got a bit excited and ate too much though! After breakfast we all collected our stinger suits and swimming gear, and were taken in groups of 10 over to the beach at Tongue Bay, in the small tender motorboat. …And we woke up in Airlie Beach and left the bus (finally!) at 9am. Our boat wasn't due to leave until 3pm, so we had a few hours to kill in town. Kel made a phone call home to Michael and then we headed to ABC Travel to check-in for the trip. Airlie Beach is in a beautiful bay, but there are huge signs up all along the beach warning swimmers about the dangers of the jellyfish that are active along the Coast at this time of year including the lethal box jellyf...

Today we had a bit of a long wait in the hostel for our bus. We had to check out at 10am, but our greyhound to Airlie Beach didn't leave until 3:30pm. We filed our time by writing the diary and playing on the internet! Lena waited with us until her bus at 12:30, then we were on our own for the last 3 hours! The bus was a bit late, but it was quite empty and very comfortable for the 2 hour journey to Hervey Bay, where we had to wait for a connecting bus to Airlie...
